Resisting
Spiritual Building-Stone No. 110

"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you" (James 4:7).

Remember, the Word of God will defeat Satan anywhere, anytime. Just say, "It is written. It is written." That settles it. Satan will have to flee. "Resist the devil and he will flee from you."

You can't have Life, only through Christ. And now what does His Word do? It builds up our spiritual body, strong, as we commune with Him to resist the devil.

You say, "Brother Branham, what's that you say, 'communing in His Word'?"
Yes, He is the Word. "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And the Word was made flesh and dwelled among us" (St.John 1:1-3,14). And we are to eat His body. Then His body is His Word, because He is the Word. And He said in St. John 15:7, "If ye abide in Me, and My communion, My Word, abides in you, then you can ask what you will and it'll be done for you." There you are. That's true. See, ask what you will.

What do you do? You're building up your body to inoculation from the... Somebody comes in and said, "Oh, our church don't believe in shouting." See, you're built up. What? You got communion in you: the Word. And you're inoculated from it. If a bunch of nonsense comes in, what is it? It has no Word in it, then you're sure it's wrong. I don't care how real it looks, if it's not the Word, leave it alone (That's right.): leave it alone. I don't care what it does; it must compare with the Word.

When the enemy comes in like a flood, as is coming today, what did God say He'd do? The Spirit of God would raise up a standard against it. Are you one of them? Yes, sir.

We are taught in James 4:7 to resist the devil, and he just won't walk away, but he will flee. Resist the devil. How do you resist the devil? The same way our Chief Captain told us to do it. Take the Word of God; that's how you resist the devil is by the Word of God. The Chief Captain told us just how it was done. All right.

Now, I want to say this: that old devil, now you think he brazen; you think he will attack a child? He will attack anything; he attacked Jesus Christ. He come at Him with three wild attacks (Mat. 4:1-11). Did you know that? Satan didn't just only attack once. He will attack you with a disease, then here he will come back and attack and say, "The days of miracles is past. You can't get healed; there's nothing to it." You know that's right?
He attacked Jesus three times. Three wild attacks he run in on Jesus with his unbelief in God's Word. Jesus was the Word. Sure, he didn't believe it. "If thou be. If thou be." Here he come, wild attacks, like sometimes the enemy makes. Here he come, say, "If thou be the Son of God, show me a miracle; let me see it done." Brother, three wild attacks he flew in, "If thou be."

Jesus, with His perfect faith, He was very strange. And the Devil didn't stay around Him very long. When he come with that great big--a fluffle of intellectual conception, he bluffled up against Jesus there when he come, he found out he hit a ten thousand volt line: it blowed him right back again. Yes, sir. And He said, "It is written, man shall not live by bread alone." Whew, he got a shock then.

He come a little softer the next time, when he said, "Now, you're a great man; you can put yourself up here and be somebody."

Said, "Get behind Me, Satan." Oh, my, what he met. And, "Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God." See, He proved Himself unto Satan that He was the Lord God. "For it is written, Thou shalt not tempt..."

Now, if Satan didn't know that that was the Lord God, he'd said, "Wait a minute, you're not that person." But he knowed better then to stay with Jesus.

He knowed what ground to stand on. He said, "Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God." And that's Who He was. And Satan knowed better than to say that, because Jesus' works had already proved that He was the Lord thy God.
Now, notice, perfect faith is a master of all circumstances. Perfect faith masters all circumstances. No matter what it is, it masters it. Now, just watch. When you believe anything, do anything, and you got faith in what you're doing; no matter what the circumstance is, that don't have one thing to do with it. See, it masters that circumstance. If it's in a room of sickness, and the Lord's revealed that this certain thing's going to happen, you just speak it and go on.

"Oh, does the..." Just don't ask any questions. It's already over; just keep going. See? It masters all circumstances. "Well, if you do this, So-and-so's going to do..." That... See, it already got it mastered. See?
Faith believes that God will work it out. "I don't know how He's going to do it, but He will do it anyhow." See? It masters all circumstances.
And faith and love is relations, because you can't have faith unless you've got love, because your faith is in a God Who is the very essence of love. Faith and love works together.

And so when a man lives by faith and walks by faith, I mean substance faith, he is isolated from the entire world and becomes a new creature in Christ. There, now you're getting into Bride material. You see, see? You're getting into rapturing condition now. That means for each one of us, not just the pastor, deacons, trustees; that means for the laity, every individual walks in a world with God alone. You're baptized into this Kingdom, and there's nobody in there but you and God. See? He gives the orders, and you pack them out. Whatever He says, there's not a shadow of doubt nowhere; you walk right on. If the Lord says this, there's nobody in the world can talk you out of it; you go right on just the same. Now, you're coming into perfect faith, perfect perfection that cannot fail. That faith never fails.

Yes, He was a mystic to them with His perfect faith; and so is it now with those who have perfect faith are a mystic to others.

We are taught to resist the Devil, and he will flee from us. Now, "to resist" is to just simply "turn him down"; just resist him; that is, just walk away from him. God said a certain thing; no matter what he's trying to tell you, you don't even listen to him. Your ears are deaf to anything else but what the Spirit says. See? "To he that has an ear (that listens), see what the Spirit saith unto the churches," the one that's got the listening post, that catches what the Spirit says to the churches. See?

God has promised to Abraham in Genesis 22:17, „...and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemy.”

Then one day along come the royal seed of Abraham, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, Abraham's Seed by faith, not through Isaac, the natural seed. They did their part. But here come one who was not natural born. Here come one that never come by sexual desire. Here come one by virgin birth, the Son of God, the Seed of Abraham. What a great Man this was. Other naturals was all born natural birth; this Man was born a virgin birth. What did He do when He come on earth? He conquered every enemy that Satan had. He conquered everything.

What did He do? He set out and He conquered sickness. There could be no sickness around Him. Wherever sickness was, He conquered it. What did He do after He conquered it? He give us the keys (Amen.), saying, "Whatever you bind on earth, I'll bind it in heaven." Amen. That's the royal seed of Abraham as promised, the Holy Ghost in us now, with the keys holding to sickness. He conquered sickness. Sickness cannot stand in His Presence, and He said that He gave us the keys to do the same thing: conquer sickness, "Whatever you bind on earth, I'll bind in heaven."

Also temptation, He was tempted in every manner like we was. What did He do? He conquered it. What did He say to us? "Resist the devil and he'll flee from you." He conquered sickness for us. He conquered temptation for us, broke down the gates took the key away from the tempter, and handed it over to the believer of Abraham's seed, and said, "If he tempts you, resist him, and he'll flee from you." Oh, my. Resist him.

He conquered both death and hell. He rose up on the third day, saying, "I have overcome, and because I live you live also." Oh, what a promise. That's to the seed of Abraham. He conquered the grave, rose up on the third day for our justification. When He rose up He was our justification. What does that make us? He conquered sickness; He conquered death; He conquered hell; He conquered the grave; He conquered temptation.
Oh, now we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us and give His life for us (Rom. 8:37), being the royal Seed of Abraham with the same Spirit of God in us that was in Him. We are more than conquerors. Every gate has been conquered for us. The only thing we have to do is possess it. It's already conquered. Sickness is conquered; death is conquered; hell is conquered; the grave is conquered; everything is conquered, and we holds the keys by His grace. Are you afraid to stick them in the lock and say, "I come in the Name of Jesus Christ? Ask the Father anything in My Name. I love Him."

"Grieve not the Holy Ghost of God, whereby you are sealed until the day of your redemption," not till the next revival, until the day of your redemption (Eph. 4:30). Being baptized into It, according to I Corinthians 12:13. And in Him is the Fullness, and no sin is recognized in Him. "He that's born of God, does not commit sin. The seed of God remains in him, and he cannot sin" (I John 3:8). How can he, when the Token's there? The Token is a sign he's been accepted.

Well, you say, "I sin." Well, then you never had the Token. See?

The Token is the barrier, shows that the price is paid. If Satan tries to hand it to you... Just think of this. If Satan tries to hand you some sickness, or tries to hand you something, you know what to do? Show him your Token. Sure, sickness strikes the Christian. Show him your Token, and prove to him that you're a purchased product of God. "Resist the devil, and he'll flee from you" (James 4:7). Hold the Token over your unmovable faith in His promised Word.

God once gave a rainbow sign for a token, gave a rainbow sign for a token. He ever remained true to that token. Did He? He does yet. All these thousands of years, He has never once, one time, failed to display it. He was true to that token, shows us that He ever and never will fail to honor His tokens. I don't care if Jesus don't come for ten thousand years, you have the Token; He's still got to honor It. No matter how many things changes, and whatevermore, He's got to honor that Token. He said He would. All right.

He expects us now to display His Token over our God-given faith, to every unbelieving cult in the nation and in the world, that believes that signs and wonders don't follow the believers. And be true to this Token, and It shows that the fare has been paid and we've been accepted for the resurrection, having the Token Life inside of us.
