The Anointing Of God
Spiritual Building-Stone No. 116

"Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that anti-christ shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things. I have not written unto you because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth. But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in Him" (I John 2:18-21,27).

What would be the right anointing? According to the Word: love, peace, joy; that's the anointing. Walk like that until God just raises up the curtain, and takes me in, and shuts all the world around me (Gal. 5:22).

Now, when Jesus came, we find out in the beginning of His ministry, that af-ter He was taken the seed of David, spiritually speaking, when the Holy Spirit come upon Him at the baptism of John, and He become the Anointed Messiah... Now, remember, He was the Son of God when He was borned. He was God's vir-gin-born Son. But when He become Messiah, that's when the Holy Spirit come on Him, 'cause the "Messiah" means the "anointed one." See? And He was the Anointed One when the Holy Spirit came on Him (Mat. 3:13-17; Luke 3:21-23). You heard me preach on the Lamb and Dove.

The church hated Him. Why? He was their very God. They hated Him and denied Him to be their Messiah. No, sir, they didn't want such a Messiah as that. And today the church does the same thing; it denies the Word. They don't want It; It's contradictory to what they've been taught to believe by their creeds. And the Word is the Messiah. You believe that? Well, the reflection of the Word then is what? A reflecting of Messiah, which is the Holy Ghost among us. He's reflecting Himself, tries to, wherever He can find a lamp that He can look through, that ain't smoked up with creeds and things. He can give Light through.

So therefore, we can't put confidence in what other people say. There's only one thing that you can put confidence in, and that's the Word. And the Word is God. And the Word anointed makes the Messiah, the anointed Word of the hour. How beautiful. They missed it, the Word; the right... The Word is always right, but their interpretation of It was wrong.
But they think it's the most wonderful thing in the world, that all of us can join hands and be one. Said, "Jesus prayed that we might be one." That is true. But not that kind of one.

He said, "Be one as I and the Father are One." Yeah, be that kind of One (John 17:21). Then how will that be? The Word and us would be the anointed Word. That is the oneness of God. See, the oneness of God is the Word anointed in you. See? And then you become a son, a messiah of the age.

Now, notice, Moses, the anointed Word, or either we call him... I hope you will understand, when I say that he was the messiah. He was the anointed Word that had been promised for that day. Moses was. Do you believe that? Sure, the word "messiah" means "the anointed." See? Now, Noah was the anointed of his day. Abraham that spoke that His people had sojourned four hundred years in bondage, and they'd be brought out by a mighty hand, and what he'd show: his signs and wonders, and the generations that was coming on, and what would do... And Moses stood there, that anointed Word of that day. That's why he could put his hand in the bosom. Why? He was standing in the Presence of God (Amen.), the great Shekinah Glory all around him. Every move he made represented God (Exodus 3:1-14). That's where the church ought to be standing now. That's right. Instead of that, we're off on some tantrum of some denominational something.

But Moses had been attracted, and he come aside. And there was that Pillar of Fire hanging there in that bush. And here stood Moses anointed. No doubt the man didn't even know what he was doing. The symbols that he was given when he stood there with his shepherd's staff, and know that that would be a rod in the wilderness. It turned into a serpent, then become an atonement; that serpent did, in the wilderness. All the things that he done... They were signs and voices speaking to the people. See, they were something was connected with him. And Moses might not even knowed it himself, but he was the anointed Word of that day. He was the anointed messenger. So if he was the messenger of that hour, he was the messiah of that hour. He was the anointed one.

Now, he, Joshua, and Caleb, was the believers in the group (Notice.) and tried to teach others the truth. But see, Satan (Dathan and Korah) caused others to per-ish in the wilderness. Now, what was the trouble? (Jude 11; Numbers 16:1-35).

God had called Moses. He didn't want to go. Those prophets had such things to do till they... It was a hard thing to do. They didn't want to be going out and be scorned at. They wanted to have fellowship, and go in with the rest of them, and go along with brothers. But you see, just like... I believe... I forget what prophet it was, said, "If... I don't want to do this (in other words), but my whole heart will catch afire. God has spoken and I must deliver it." Whether they liked it; whether they crucified him; whether they stoned him; whatever they did, God has spoke in his heart, and he must say it, not to be different, but be obedient. "Obedience is better than sacrifice; hearkening, unto the fats of rams" (I Sam. 15:22). See, It was in his heart. He must do it. It was his life. He couldn't hold it. There was something, a pulsation, that pushed them. They couldn't bless it or curse it. God had so much complete control of them till He was their voice, their action. Hallelujah.

Give me a Church that's so completely anointed with God till their every action and move is THUS SAITH THE LORD, right in that Shekinah Glory, I'll show you a Messiah (anointed one of God) standing upon the earth.
There stood Moses by this burning bush and the Shekinah Glory. Standing there, anointed, he didn't know what he was doing hardly. He was just obeying what the Voice said do, "Stick your hand in your bosom. Pull it out. Take up that rod. Turn it into a serpent. Throw it back down again" (Exod. 4:2-7). No matter what anybody else said, he was doing it.

Said, "Lord, show me Your Glory, and I'm ready to go to Egypt. I'm not an eloquent man. I can't speak well. But You just let me see Your Glory." And He showed It to him. And he went down and took these same things. And to show that he was the anointed messiah, that man picked up dust off the earth and throwed it into the air, and flies and fleas flew out of that dust, and covered the earth. What could create, but God? Took water out of the river and poured it upon the bank; and every drop of water throughout Egypt turned to blood. What could do that, but God? What was it? He was so completely surrendered to God's anointed Word till he was the messiah.
The Egyptians tried to turn it down this way. The unbelievers tried to turn it down. The make-believers tried their scheme. But God's Word took them right straight on to the promised land. That's right. They were anointed. He was the messiah.

And when Moses saw that he was raised up for this purpose and that he had met face to face this great God Who had made the call, and had anointed him, and identified him, and said, "This is your call, Moses. I'm sending you. And I'm going to show you My glory, and here I am in the bush, burning. Go down there; I'll be with you." He didn't even need a stick. He had the Word, the vindi-cated Word. There he went.

It anointed the faith that was in him. And it anoints us when we see that we're living in the last days, to find out that all these signs that we see being taken place that's spoke of in the Scripture would take place in the last days: all the way from heaven to the political powers, and the nature of the people, and the demoralization of the world and among the women, and how they would do in the last days, and how the men would do, and how the churches would do, how the nations would do, and how God would do. And we see it all laying right here on us.

Oh, it anoints our faith. It moves us out in the great cycles. See? It separates us from other things of the world. See? No matter how little we are, how much a minority we are, how much we're laughed at, made fun of, it don't make a bit of difference. That's all. We see it. There's something within us. We were predes-tinated to see this hour; there's nothing going to stop us from seeing it. Amen. Sure, God has spoke it. It's already happened. We see it. Oh, how we thank God for this. Oh. Then it brings out your faith when we see these things happening here.

I've got a good friend out there that's preaching that message: a Pentecostal, out telling people, trying to unite the church together, saying that we must come into this, this ecumenical move. Why, some in them... The Church of Christ... Many of these denominations that don't even believe in the virgin birth, and all these different things, and they all belong to that. How can two walk together unless they be agreed? Then, you said, "Amen" to that, I wonder about this now: Then how can a man say that he's a Christian and filled with the Holy Ghost, and deny that that Word is the same yesterday, today, and forever? The Holy Ghost in you will punctuate that Word, every Word, "Amen. Amen. Amen." When the Word says anything, you say, "That's Truth." Amen. 'Cause you're agreed with the Word. You're agreed with God. You and God are one. God is in you. You're His son or His daughter, makes you a messiah for Him, the anointed Word living out in you.

Now, see, Dathan had a idea that they could all make a great religion out of it. You know, even the apostle Peter had the same idea on Mount Transfiguration. He said, "Let's build three tabernacles here: one for Moses, and one for the law, and one for the prophets, one..." (Mat. 17:1-8).
And while Peter was yet speaking, there was a Voice come down, said, "This is My beloved Son. Hear ye Him." That's when they looked back they seen Jesus only. There He stood. He was the Word. That's all you have to hear, is that Word. That's Him in any age. See what the Word says for that age, and watch God anoint It, and go with It. That's all.

The children of Israel followed the Pillar of Fire to the promised land. Those that went all the way through did; the others perished. Notice, they wanted the Word mixed with the world. 'Caused them to error. And notice what it did to them. The Word... They missed It because they wouldn't accept the anointed Word. See, you have to have the counterfeit... First you have to have the real one to make a counterfeit off of it. And there they had it, and God showed that He wasn't with it.

Now, watch. Now, He has appeared to us in the same form that He did to them in the Old Testament, and in the same as He did in the New Testament, and has showed by the same Word, the same Christ. And I declare to you that Christ is the Holy Ghost. The word "Christ" means "the anointed one." Just a person that's anointed, that is the Christ, the anointed one. How many knows that's true? That's the interpret. The anointed one, there would be a man that would be anointed: anointed with what? The Bible said in Acts 2 that Jesus of Nazareth, a Man approved of God, anointed with the Holy Ghost, went about and done great works and things (See?), that God manifested, proved that He was in this man (Acts 2:36 & 10:38).

And now, we become anointed with that same Spirit, anointed messiahs, messiahs of the last day to shine forth the resurrection of Jesus Christ, to show that He is not dead; but in the form of the Holy Ghost He's in His peo-ple, moving among His Bride with a love affair to Her, pouring out into Her, Himself. They are becoming one for the wedding supper; and the same signs, promised by the same God, in the same Word, is making His same manifes-tation.

The Prophet of God got questioned: Some say, Brother Branham is the Son of Man. I thought the Pillar of Fire was the Son of Man. Am I mistaken?
No. The Pillar of Fire is the Anointing. Now, that Pillar of Fire is the Logos that went out of God, the Logos, which is actually the attribute of the Fullness of God. When God become into a form to where It could be seen, It was the anointing of the great Spirit that went forth, Its condescending, coming down, God, the Father, the Logos that was up over Israel, that... He was holy, could not bear sin. There had to be a blood offering right in Eden. Then that Logos become flesh and dwelt among us; and where this Logos dwelt in a human body, which was the Sacrifice...

When man was made in the image of God... (Gen. 1:26-27). And then God came down in the image of man to redeem man; that brought man and God to-gether. Heavens and earth hugged and kissed each other; God and man embraced each other as Fatherhood and Sonship when the Logos became flesh and dwelled among us (John 1:1-2,14).

Jesus said, "I came from God, and I go to God." Is that right? After His death, burial, resurrection, and ascension, when the body was taken up to set at the right hand of God... Now, I don't mean God's got a right hand; God's a spirit. But at the "right hand" means "in power and authority of God." That in that Name everything in heaven is named after It and subject to It. Everything in earth is named after It and subject to It, a Name above all names, Jesus Christ. Now, this Logos that was in Him, which was the Spirit of God, the Anointing, through the sanctifying grace of the Blood, brought many sons to God, which is anointed with this same Logos.

Brother Branham said: I am not He; I am His servant. And the Pillar of Fire is not He; It's in Spirit form which was upon the Son of man and has come now to anoint sons of men, to bring back a ministry just exactly like He said it would be, in order for the Head and the rest of the Body to connect together.

Oh, and remember now it was that same He; it was He that said in John 14:12: "He that believeth on Me, the works that I do, shall he do also." Is that right? It was He that said so. It was Jesus in Mark 11:24 that said, "If you say to this mountain (not 'if you pray to this mountain')--if you say to this mountain 'Be moved,' and don't doubt in your heart, but believe that what you said will come to pass, you can have what you've said." Now, if you say it just presumptuously, it won't happen; but if something in you--that's you're anointed for the job, and will know that it's the will of God to do it, and will say it, it's got to happen. It was He that said this: "If ye abide in Me and My Words abide in you, ask what you will, and it shall be done to you" (St.John 15:7). Oh, my. Oh, my. You see what I mean?

The Prophet of God testified about the raising of the dead boy in Finland:
The faith that was within my heart was anointed. Oh, if I could only ex-plain that, the faith that God--I had in God that told me, and had never failed, told me, "The situation is under control now. Here's exactly what I showed you two years ago, and here it is laying just exactly in order. The only thing you have to do is speak the Word." And the little boy rose up from the dead.

I just want to speak on the subject to kind of build up faith. You've got to. If you're building any... If there's ministers here (which there's no doubt there is) knows that when you are speaking to the people you have an atmosphere of preaching for salvation, then you want to make that call to that. And then if you want the atmosphere for healing, you get the anointing yourself by the Word of God, and deliver it to the people, and that puts the whole group in the anointing for a certain thing: otherwise, under expectations of certain things. See, we're expecting something.

I was reading the history of Martin Luther. And the history said it wasn't so much of a mystery that Martin Luther could protest the Catholic church and get by with it, but to hold his head above all the fanaticism that followed his re-vival. That's right. Hold yourself clean and clear to your calling. Stay with God's Word and don't move for nothing. Just stay, abide, in your calling. If He give you a job out there as a farmer, farm good. God bless you at it, and pay your tithes and whatever it is, your offerings to help the ministry go on. If he made a mechanic out of you, He's blessed you in that work, stay with it and thank Him for it. You just abide where God calls you.
See, there's another thing we have to know. No matter how much God's blessed you, you haven't got no right to rebuke the anointed of the Lord, or say anything against them. Right. God is the one to take care of that. If they need any rebuking, that's His children. You let them alone. You're not sup-posed to do that.

Notice, but they didn't want the way that He came, so is it today. The churches then wanted their systems anointed. The Pharisees wanted the Pharisaic system anointed, the Sadducee wanted the Sadducee system, Herodians so forth. That's the way today. If they'll... If God will send an anointing, and anoint the Oneness, oh, my, wouldn't they tell the Twoness about it, or a Threeness, or whatever it is? Wouldn't the Assemblies tell the Oneness about it? "I told you we were right." The Methodists would tell the Baptists, "O boy we got her." You're wanting your system anointed.
But God only promised to anoint His Word. Amen. I know that's scorchy, but that's what is Truth. God never changes. He anoints His Word. Yes, sir. The anointed promised Word for that age is what God anoints: the promised Word for that age.

But let me tell you; what we need today is the Word of God anointed for this age that'll bring forth the power of the Holy Ghost again.

The martyrs down through the ages there suffered terribly. But what was they? They were under the inspiration, the Spirit of God, the power. And don't forget this, church, and you brethren on tape, I want you to examine this: How could man do anything else besides the power of God that had been released to them?

I'm going to set this box up here to represent that. If God sends a certain Spirit among them, that's the only thing that they can work by, is the Spirit that works among them. Now, we'll prove to you by the history of the church and by the opening of the Seals and the powers that let loose... And watch exactly the church responded to the anointing, and they couldn't do nothing else.

Now, the first was that lion that roared, that pure unadulterated Word. The second in Thyatira was the ox, and it was a beast of burden, and it was also a sacrificial beast. And wasn't that exactly the poor little church of Rome that set-tled down there to a thousand years of dark ages? And anything that didn't profess to be of the Roman church was put to death immediately; and they had to labor, go from place to place.

And they had to labor among one another. There you are, the ox.
See, when the thing went forth, and the sacrifice come, and they had to go, He said, "Don't you hurt the wine and oil." What did they do? They willingly walked up there and died.

They didn't care because the Spirit of the church in that day was sacrifice, labor. And they walked up just as freely as they could walk, anointed with the true Spirit of God of that age, and died like heroes of sacrifice, thousands times thousands, sixty-eight million of them on the record: ox, sacrifice. Oh, my. Do you understand it?

Now, what is it? Christ coming to His body. Christ is the Word. We all know the anointing is Christ, that comes on the Word that makes the Word live. Is that right? That is the anointing. Christ is the anointing, the Spirit that comes upon the Word, that quickens the Word to make it live. Now, the Word is in your heart. You believe in Divine healing, whatevermore.
And Christ, the anointing, coming to His body (See the connection there?), just like husband and wife become one. Now, the church has got to get to the ministry until the church and Christ become one. He can anoint you for every blessing that's in the Bible. All of it is yours. Everything that's promised of this age is yours. But if we leave anything out then... If anointing strikes that - it will anoint it.

There's coming one with a Message that's straight on the Bible, and quick work will circle the earth. The seeds will go in newspapers, reading material, until every predestinated Seed of God has heard It.
