Anointed With The False Evil Spirit
Spiritual Building-Stone No. 118

"For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth [will let], until he be taken out of the way. And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all de-ceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who be-lieved not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness" (II Thessalonians 2:7-12).

Let us listen to what God's Prophet has spoken:

He was asked: I can't give over completely to Jesus. Have I an evil spirit?
Let me just spend the rest of the time on that there. You can't surrender to Jesus? See, I don't know man or woman; I couldn't tell which it is. God knows that.

You can't surrender to Jesus. Why? What's the matter? If you are a woman, don't you have to surrender to your husband to be a wife, surrender all you are? A little lady when you were married, virtuous, fought all your life to stay virtuous, but one day you found a man that you loved. You were his completely. The things that you'd fought against all your life and tried to live clean, and clear, and virtuous, now you surrender every bit of it to one man. Is that right? You put yourself completely in his hands; you are his. All that you have stood for in decency, and moral, and everything like that, now you turn over to a man, because you surrender yourself to the man. Can't you do the same thing to Jesus Christ? Just surrender yourself that way, "all that I am, all my mind, all my thoughts." Certainly.

I don't think that you're possessed of an evil spirit; I think that evil spirit anoints you with them kind of thoughts, trying to make you think that you cannot surrender yourself to God. Let me show you something. Why would you want to surrender to Him? Because there's something out there calling to you to surrender. It's a very good sign that you ought to surrender yourself.

Now, all you do, brother or sister (might be a young person or old, what-ever it is), you said... Just can't find themselves so they can completely sur-render. Just give yourself over. "Lord, my thinking, my all that I am, I want to give to You. My life, I give as a life of service. Take me, Lord, and use me just as I am." And it's such a simple thing.

Looky here, here's a little lady twist herself down the street. Here's a young fellow; his eyes catches it; he's a member of the church; he's a Pente-costal; he's whatever he is; but the first thing you know there's no hold post in there.

She'll say, "Hello." He's got curly hair and kind of nice-looking, straight shouldered young man, maybe tried to live right. She starts walking up to him. Even a preacher... The first thing you know... What is it? This out here, the flesh desire, and the spirit down here, yet anointed, saying, "Don't do it, don't do it." But what will it do? It'll move right around, there the hold; there he goes. First thing you know he's trying to make a date with her. He's guilty of committing adultery whether he touches her or not. But a genu-ine borned again son of God... Amen.

You can't do it yourself. It's totally impossible for a red-blooded male to walk before a female like that without something taking place. But when there is something on the inside, that little borned again something there... Though that man might've shouted, spoke in tongues, jumped, danced, everything else, anointed with the Spirit, done all the signs and wonders that God said in there, by His Spirit...

Jesus said, "Many will come to Me in that day and say, 'Lord have not I prophesied Your Name? Haven't I cast out devils in Your Name? Have not I...'" He said, "Depart from Me, you that work iniquity" (Mat. 7:21-23). What is iniquity? Something that you know to do, and don't do it. "Depart from Me, you that work iniquity, I didn't even know you."

But down on the inside of that man, if that little tie-post had been there, that Seed of God that was predestinated before the foundation of the world, I don't care what takes place; it holds him; it's there to stay.
The Word of God shall never fail. It'll triumph no matter what that is. Then I knowed there was something inside of all reasonings, something inside of all emotions, everything else like that; there was an inside man that held in that hour (II Cor. 4:16); nothing else could have done it. Every reason, everything could be showed, everything could prove that it was wrong, and I was in the wrong, but the Word of God that was predesti-nated before the foundation of the world held on the inside.

Brother, sister, let me tell you: That's the only thing. Don't try to reason it out. Don't try to have long hair because I said so. Don't try to do these things just because in your flesh... Don't try to do it just to kind of cope up, but just wait before the Lord till something way down on the inside...
Many of you think 'cause you've long hair, that means you're going to go to heaven. That doesn't mean that. Many of them thinks, 'cause you're a good moral woman, your going to... It don't mean that. Many of them think be-cause their churches and belong to this and this great groups and great doc-tors of divinity. That don't mean that. See? Many think because they speak with tongues, they've got the Holy Ghost. That don't mean that, though the Holy Ghost does speak with tongues. But until that real, genuine Holy Spirit in there will cope with every word...

If that Holy Spirit in you makes you speak with tongues, looks back there and doesn't agree with the rest of the Word, then it's a wrong spirit. See? It's got to come from the inside, which is the Word from the beginning. In the beginning of the creation of God when God begin to create and bring you into existence... You see, you started back there as a seed and worked down to where you are now. And then you were all in Christ. Then when Christ died, He died to redeem all of you (Rom. 6:6; II Cor. 5:14). And you are part of this Word. And how can the Bible--all of it pre-cept upon precept, line upon line, here a little, there a little, not one jot or tit-tle shall fail... How in the world can you, being part of that Word, disagree with the rest of it, or any part of it?

Brother Branham, can Satan use a gift of tongues or prophecy in a per-son who has the Holy Ghost?

That's a good one isn't it? Yes, sir. It must be watched very, very close. In I Corinthians 14:26-29 we find out that any gift in the church has got to be judged first. See? You have to watch, 'cause evil spirits slip in. Be-cause remember, the rain falls on the just and the unjust (Mat. 5:44-45). The same rain that was sent to ripen the wheat also ripens the weed: the same water. How many knows that? Now, that ought to clear the serpent's seed to you then, how that this son come. I'm trying to pick it out here to get it before my time runs out, but I can't find it: so, how that son was about the serpent's seed (I John 3:11-12). See?

God has a law. Now, on this, in this law of the spirit of Life you have to watch, because Satan slips in (Rom. 8:1-2).

And Paul, when something was revealed to somebody, it had to have at least two or three judges before it could be told before the church (I Cor. 14:26-33).

I want to ask... No one has to say this. There's at least fifteen or twenty people setting right here was guilty of thinking that I was Jesus Christ. How could they do it? I was right onto them till I found out that God told me it was a spirit. And them men, I said... And them men believed me, every word. I said, "How do you believe me then, if I tell you?" Then we got to the Word; then they begin to see, said, "Well, sure, we didn't believe you, or we'd have listened to what you said." See there?

But they actually thought they were right, sincerely. See? And one of those spirits gets on you, that's got it, you'll absolutely believe it. I don't care; there's nobody can tell you any different. See? No matter how much the Word says so, well, you just don't believe It anyhow; just go on. "If you want to be that way, you go ahead, and I'll have my own way." See, that shows you're anointed with the wrong spirit.

The Spirit of God will... Well, you say, "What about yourself, Brother Branham?"

I'm always ready for anybody to show me what's right and wrong, but it has to be the Word. They can't say... Has to come from the Word. So that's where these seals open. And don't you never worry. If it's a seal it'll declare itself from Genesis to Revelations. So there's the seals. Don't you love Him?

Many sincere persons go join an organization, or a group, or a cult of some sort, and there they die spiritually. You can't tell them nothing. They get that stuff drilled into them: "Why, these bishops said this, and this said this; this said this." You show them right here in the Word of God where it's THUS SAITH THE LORD, "But our pastor..." I don't care what your pas-tor says, don't care what I say, or anybody else says. If it's contrary to God's vindicated Word, the hour, the time, the Message, and so forth, forget it. Stay away from it. And I've got to stand before every one of you in the day of judgment, and you know that. And little would I say that, knowing I'm an old man now. I'll... It ain't that I know something, but He knows. I just follow what He says (Matt. 24:24-25).
