The Power Of God
Spiritual Building-Stone No. 137

Acts 1:8, "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."

Let us see what God's Prophet said about it:

Today we got the wrong conception of power. Power is overcoming, returning good for evil, that's real power. That can love your enemy, do good to those that do evil to you. That's real power; that's God power (Matth. 5,44-48).

Maniacs can break chains. But it takes a real man to return good for evil, from his heart, not because of religious duty, but from his heart.

You know, people want power, and really they don't know what power is. See? They don't really know what goes with it. The way up is down always. If you want power, see how humble you can get (Mat. 11:28-30; I Peter 5:5-6). Just get away from all your worldly thinking, and humble yourself before God, and then you've got more power than the man that runs all over the building and makes a big lot of noise; because you have been able to conquer yourself and commit yourself to Christ to humble yourself before Him (James 4:10). That's really power.

You show me a church that's humble, real humble, not a arrogant church, just a sweet, humble church, I'll show you a church that has the favor and power of God in it. That's right. That's the thing it takes, humility, humbling ourselves before God, and letting God just work through us. Don't have to make a lot of noise.

Sometimes, as the farmer said, he went out to the field with his wagon, and every time it hit a bump, it just rattled and went on. But when he come back, he hit the same bump and didn't make no noise at all, because it was loaded with good things. So I think that's just about right, that we get filled up with the good things of God, that the fruit of the Spirit might be known through us (Gal. 5:22).

Now, brethren and sisters, I want to ask you something. Then if we are borned again of the Spirit of God... God don't have little weak parts and big strong parts; He's altogether God! And if you had enough of God in you, till It was just barely a shadow, that's enough power to make a new earth. That's enough power to make a new moon and a new system. It's God, and it's strong. And right now in every believer in here has Life Eternal, which is God's Spirit in you; enough power that'll raise up the dead, that'll heal the sick, that'll set orbits in conditions, but it's controlled by a law, that Spirit that's in you. You are sons and daughters of God. That same Spirit that you've got in you, will raise yourself up at the day of the resurrection (Romans 8:11).

If there wasn't a law to that, sons and daughters of God would create them a world out here and go live a private life on it. You have the power in you to do it. If you've got a shadow of the power of God in you, you got power to do it. God is omnipotent. See what I mean? The power that's in you will make... You could speak a world into existence and go live on it. Hallelujah. There you are.

That's what power is in the Church now, but it is controlled by a law (Eph. 3:20-21). And that law is not keeping a bunch of commandments. It's a law of faith. Jesus said, "All things are possible to them that believe." (Mark 11:22-24). And if you can believe it, whatever God will lead your soul to believe, that is yours. Every place the soles of your foot can set upon by faith, God gives it to you (Joshua 1:3). Amen. It's yours; you possess it, if you can find the key to this law of faith that opens it to you. You see what I mean? That power is controlled by... If you are a son of God, you are a daughter of God, that never leaves you. It's with you all the time. But your faith gets away from It, but It's still there. Hallelujah.

When you are saved, God gives you faith to rise from the muck of the earth. Your faith overcomes the things of the world (I John 5:4). What is your faith? Your faith is that act that God has did in you to make you a son of God. You quit your lying, you quit your stealing, you quit your drinking, because your faith rises you up above it. Amen. If you don't do it, you don't have any faith. "And by faith are you saved, and that through grace" (Eph. 2:8-9).

As much as your faith will be released, that's how much power you can have, because in you dwells the power to make heavens and earth. God dwells in you, and you are sons and daughters of God. Amen. There you are. But it's your faith. Jesus said, "According to your faith, be it unto you. If thou canst believe, all things are possible. Verily, I say unto you, if you say unto this mountain, 'Be moved,' and don't doubt, but believe that what you have said..."

That's the trouble with the church. We can conquer every disease. We got the power in us. We are sons and daughters of God, nothing can stand before us. Only thing, He wants to find somebody who'll believe it, who'll believe what God's already done for you. "Not we will be; we are now." And the ever-living Presence of the Spirit is with us. Amen. There you are.
Believe it. You got to believe it. Got to be Something there open that damper, open that thing to let you in on it. What we need today is not pray for more power. You got enough power to make a new earth. What you need is faith to use that power. What you need is to control that life, and live such a godly life, that when you ask God anything, you know. We have confidence in God, of that. We know, if we keep His commandments, He'll withhold no good thing from us if we walk with Him. God walking with us.

And that same power, that same Christ... Hallelujah. Let the fundamentalists, let them people who deny the power of God say it's wrong; but that same power that spoke the world into existence is in those people that's got the Holy Ghost (Heb. 11:1-3). That's right. Men and women, it's time that we found out who you are. The devil's trying to hide you back, tell you that you're some little trod-down something. You're not. You're sons and daughters of God (Gal. 4:6-7). The Deity is not in heaven; it's in you (Col. 1:27). Hallelujah.

God dwells in man. And man becomes a son of God, not him in himself, but the Holy Spirit that's in him is God. The Creator lives in the creation.

Same Holy Spirit that saved the Lutherans, that sanctified the Methodists, that baptized the Pentecostals, is now setting in order the coming of the Lord Jesus. When it'll be so powerful, that Body will come into this group of church that'll draw the rest of them from the grave. There'll be a resurrection. That's what the Holy Ghost is for.

What is the Holy Ghost? Without us they cannot be made perfect (Heb. 11:32-40).

God's waiting on me and you. The church is waiting on me and you: adoption time, when God can pour into us His Fullness, His power, His Resurrection, that when the church and Christ become so close together till Christ becomes visible among us, and raises the dead, and we go into the rapture (I Thess. 4:13-18).

Don't worry. God is waiting, and trying, and pressing to get at the mystery of God revealed to His Church. That's what's a-holding back the coming of Christ now and the great Millennium, is this great supernatural power that really lays dormant in the Church.

Oh, the power of the Christian Church that lays dormant tonight because of unbelief.

You got the power; but it's laying dormant, because you're afraid to use it. See? The disciples had power, but they couldn't do it (heal the boy - Luke 17:20-21). And every one of you's got power. These crippled people's got power right now to rise from up there and walk. This dying man with cancer's got power to raise up and walk. The rest of you all out there that sick, you got power. You got power; it's given to you. You shall receive power (Acts 1:8). That's what the Bible said.

Listen closely. I Corinthians 4:20 says the Kingdom of God is His Word made power. If you want to put that down, I Cor. 4:20. The Kingdom of God is God's Word made power. What is the Kingdom of God? Is within you. The Kingdom's in you (Luke 17:20-21). And when the Word comes in there, what does this Word begin? It turns Itself into power, making It say just exactly what It said.

You can't say "It says this; It says this," and make It work. You got to say the same thing It says. That makes a confession. Not saying, "Well, It's polished up a little here, I'll have more wisdom, I'll be in better standing over here."

You stay with the Word. There it is. See? And It makes It power, "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever." Jesus said in St. John 14:12, „He that believeth in Me, the works that I do shall he do also.” St. John 15:7, „If ye abide in Me and My Word in you, you can ask what you will and it shall be done unto you.”

That resurrected power, brother, I don't mean something you have to dig and pull and try. I mean just throw yourself loose and God's done packed you away yonder somewhere, where it's just such a pleasure to live for Him. There's nothing in the... Why, the other things is just as dead as twelve o'clock. See? Nothing, no desire at all, no condemnation to them that's in Christ Jesus... My. Those old things of the world, you don't have to quit them, you don't; there ain't nothing to quit; it just quits you. It's simply it's not there no more; it just goes away. Amen.

The quickening power come in this last days. What is it? The quickening power coming to the church, making her ready in this hour that we're approaching: quickening power. Oh, God help us to receive it. Help us to believe it.

See? Just depends on what attitude you take to It whether It's going to do you any good or not though. See, you have to believe that. If you don't believe it, it won't do you one bit of good.

But also it is a fact that the prophet for the last age must be bringing forth a message from God that will forerun the second coming of the Lord, for by his message will the hearts of the children be turned back to the Pentecostal fathers, and with the restoration of the Word will come the restoration of the power.

But the church has not recognized her day, like Israel back in her promised land. She don't know how she got back there. She was just automatically put back there. Why? National force put her in her place. Now, I'm going to say something. National force put Israel in her homeland. National force will put the church in the World Council of Churches. But the power of God will put the people in the Bride. The world forces this way, and the world forces that way, but God forces upward, the Spirit of God, which is the Word of God ("My Word is Spirit and Life will put the Bride in her place, 'cause she'll recognize her position in the Word; then she's in Christ.") (John 6:63) will put her in her place. No national force will do it. But the national force did drive Israel to the homeland. The national forces of the council of churches will drive every organization into it, but the power of God will raise the Bride into glory, out of it.

Let's take the New Testament, II Timothy 3:1-5. The Holy Spirit warned us that in the last days that the church would get away from the sincerity and the faith. They'd have a form of godliness, but would deny the power that went with the right thing, having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof. Yes, sir.

God hates a powerless religion. And any religion today that hasn't got Christ in it, is powerless. But any religion that Christ's in is under His own Blood, and it's got power in it. God hates powerless religion. It's got to have power in it. It's got to have sincerity. Sincerity brings power. Sincerity brings real worship, not forms, but genuine power worship to know that you've passed from death unto Life (John 5:24).

I want you to get this now. The church has got to lift Itself in the power of God. How? We're too close to the end now; and I believe the church is in condition where we can teach it a little deeper things, and rub some of this make-believe out and get into something real. See? It's got to be something that you know.

And so when a man lives by faith and walks by faith, I mean substance faith, he is isolated from the entire world and becomes a new creature in Christ. There, now you're getting into Bride material. You see, see? You're getting into rapturing condition now. That means for each one of us, not just the pastor, deacons, trustees; that means for the laity, every individual walks in a world with God alone. You're baptized into this Kingdom, and there's nobody in there but you and God. See? He gives the orders, and you pack them out. Whatever He says, there's not a shadow of doubt nowhere; you walk right on. If the Lord says this, there's nobody in the world can talk you out of it; you go right on just the same. Now, you're coming into perfect faith, perfect perfection that cannot fail. That faith never fails.
