There Is Something In You!
Spiritual Building-Stone No. 166
St. Matthew 5:6, “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Listen to what the Prophet of God said about it:
Then I was looking
and thinking about that word "thirst," so I looked up in the dictionary
to see what it means. And here's what Webster says, "It's a painful desire,"
a painful, when you want something so bad until it becomes painful to you.
Now, it's not a unnatural thing to thirst. Thirst is a natural thing. It's
just simply something that God has given us, that we could, to give us a desire
for something. Sometimes God has also, has given you a control tower, something
that sets inside of you, that controls these different desires. And this thirst,
this control tower that sets in a man's heart, is something that God give
him to warn him of the desires that's needful for him.
Now, there is two different kinds of thirst. There is a thirst physically.
And there is a thirst also spiritually. I would like to read this, what David
said, again. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God:...(Psalm 42:1-2).
Not some historical, or some something that happened some years ago, or some
tale that someone told; but "for the living God," a God that's ever
present. And his soul thirsted for that God, not for some historical something.
Now, we find, God gives the control tower to you, to give to you the things
that you need. Now, the control tower in you is what directs you. And this
thirst runs in on this control tower, and tells you what you have need of,
spiritually speaking. The control tower in the body and in the soul also.
There's a control tower in the body that tells you the need that's needed
in your body, and it's brought to you by thirst. Also there's a control tower
in your soul that tells you the spiritual things that you have need of, something
in your spirit, and you by this can tell what kind of a life is controlling
you.
When you can see what your desires are, then you can tell by that what kind
of something that's in you, that's creating this desire that you have. See,
there's a certain thing that you thirst for, and it can tell you in your soul
what this desire is by the nature of the thirst that you have. I hope that
you can understand that. There is a control tower of the soul, and one for
the body, and each tower is a warning caller for the needs of the other. Each
one calls to the need for what the caller is calling for; it sends out a wave
of warning. For instance, the flesh thirsts to satisfy the desires that's
in the body, and the spirit desires for the things that's in the soul desire
is, and many times these war one against the other. We find there, what's
a great trouble today that too many people try to live between those two desires
(Gal. 5:17). For one of them desires the things of the earth; the other desires
the things of heaven. [1]
There's only
one life, one Eternal Spirit, one Eternal Life, and that's God. God alone
is the Eternal. (Isaiah 9:6, 57:15). And then we, being His children, are
part of Him; that is, the attributes of His thinking. And the thought is expressed,
and becomes a word. Then each individual in here that possesses this Eternal
Life was before the foundation of the world in God's thinking. That's the
only way it could be, cause you are a attribute. That's an expression of a
thought has been come a word, and a word has taken life, and it's eternal.
That's the reason we have Eternal Life. (John 3:16, 5:24).In the same principle
that the great Son of God, the Redeemer... We become sons and daughters of
God through that same Spirit, by the same foreknowledge of God (Gal. 4:6).
Look at the millions on earth that didn't receive it when Jesus was here.
But how thankful that we should be to know that we have the direct evidence
and the Bible proofs that we are included in that great resurrection morning
coming, that great Easter (Rev. 20:5-6). We have the earnest of it right now
in our mortal bodies (Eph. 1:13-14). The predestinated ones are the first,
(Eph. 1:3-5) of course, to be quickened, when the Holy Spirit comes to claim
its own (I Cor. 15:22-24). Now, there is a great statement; and I want my
minister brothers to try to understand this.
In the beginning, God, the great Spirit... He wasn't even God then. He was
the eternal One. "God" is an object of worship. He had nothing to
worship Him. There was no angels, no nothing, just God alone. Him alone was
eternal. But in order to be God, there had to be something to worship Him.
So He created Angels, and beings, and Cherubims, and so forth to worship Him
(Ezekiel 28:11-17, 10:1-22). And His great plan begin to unfold.
But remember, you, in the statue that you are, if you wasn't in His thinking
then, you're not now. There's some part that's in you that's eternal; and
eternal only belongs to God. And in God was His thinking of you setting right
where you are now. In His thinking I stood at the pulpit this morning, because
He's infinite and knows all things. Therefore, He could tell the end from
the beginning, because He's eternal (Romans 8:29-30). And you, being a son
of God or a daughter of God, then you were in His thinking at the beginning.
And then when the Holy Spirit come... And you're on earth, walking around
here as a sinner; way down in your life there's something. You don't know
what's taking place, but you're hungering (Matt. 5:6). There's something in
you, something that you never put in there. It's something that you couldn't
desire to be in there. It's something that's contrary to your own nature.
It's the foreknowledge of God taking place (Acts 13:48). [2]
How we going
to get around that? There's so much make-believe going on sensations and different
things like that. But within your heart you believe it. When something has
happened to you, it's God did it, and God's the only One that can do it. So
God by grace and election put that in your heart to believe it. It wasn't
there to begin with, and you had no way of putting it there. God placed it
there and you answered the call. [3]
And then, that shows that in you was that predestinated seed down in you that
makes you hunger for God. "All the Father has given Me, has given Me
to redeem, they died with Me at Calvary (Rom. 6:4-6); they raised with Me
in the resurrection; all that He has given Me, will come to Me (John 6:37-39).
They'll be placed in the body (whether foot, arm, nose, mouth, whatever it
is). They'll be placed in there, and they will come to Me in their season."
(I Cor. 12:4-31).
Here it is, don't forget it. All you out there, set this down in your mind.
When a thinking man begins to think Who he's going to stand before and what
the Word of God is, when he begins to think, then when he draws through that,
there's nothing can get to it but the Holy Ghost. What is it? It's the germ,
seed Word from the beginning, that you was in God at the beginning, standing
here drawing the seed Life. The seed is in your heart by foreordination. Hallelujah.
The seed is already in there by the foreknowledge of God, predestinated. And
when it draws, it can't draw through nothing else but the Word. [4]
Like in the book
here, and the spot there we was talking about the two Books being one, the
Book of Life. The first Book of life coming up, was when you were born, that
was your natural birth (Rev. 20:11-15). See? But then one time, way back down
in there, there was a little grain of Life as I've explained. See, there's
a little grain of Life laying there which you'd wonder, "Where did It
come from? What these strange things?"
I was saying this, taking for myself, like you was going to say, "William
Branham, well, forty years ago, the William Branham, this and the same one
tonight." And somebody would say, "We're, very... He was a rank
rascal." See? Because I was born of Charles and Ella Branham. In their
nature I was a sinner; I came to the world, a liar, and all the habits of
the world laid right in me (Romans 3:10-12). But down in there too, was another
nature present, predestinated, was in there by God. In this same body two
natures in there.
Well, I only catered to one. As it growed, I gooed as a baby, "Da-da."
First thing you know, I become a liar (Romans 3:4), become everything else
that's a sinner, because I raised up that way. But down in there was a little
speck of Life all the time.
I used to remember as a little boy... Setting out in the on the creek bank,
and I'd set there and look around at nighttime. Pop and mom, they're gone
on now to their rest. And them days they were sinners; there was no Christianity
in our homes at all. And, oh, my, drinking, and parties, and carrying on;
it made me sick. I'd take my lantern and my dog and go to the woods to stay
all night. In the wintertime I'd hunt till the party was over, maybe daylight
in the morning. Come home, wouldn't be over, I've laid on top of a shed and
sleep, waiting for daylight to break.
Then I'd think of how that times, then being out there in the summertime,
get my sticks and put them down for a little windbreak, where if it rained;
lay there and have the poles sticking in the water, fishing; my old coon dog
laying there, I'd say, "Looky here. You know, last winter I camped right
here one night; I built a fire right here when I was waiting for my old dog
here to tree, and I had a fire here. It was froze five inches deep in the
ground. That little flower, where did you come from? See? Where'd you come
from? Who come out here and planted you? And what hothouse did they bring
you out of? Or what about it, where'd you come from?" That little flower,
I'd say, "Why, it was frozen, and everything, and I built a fire on top
here. Besides the freezing element, there was a heat element laying here on
a big old log where I burned here. And yet here you are; you're alive. Where'd
you come from?"
What was it? There was another William Branham. A little spot of Eternal Life
down there, from the genes of God, the Word of God that was placed in there.
Each one of you can think of similar things. See? It was working. Then I looked
up to the trees and I'd think, "Leaf, I seen you fall off last year,
and what are you back there again? Where'd you come from? What brought you
here?" See? It was that Eternal Life working in the body.
Now, then one day as I walked on, that Voice talking, "Don't never smoke,
drink, so forth." And the young fellows and all, I got older. See, there
was Something moving. But yet all at once I looked up, and I said, "I'm
not the son of Charles and Ella Branham. There's Something calling."
Like my little eagle, "I'm not a chicken. There's Something up yonder,
somewhere. O great Jehovah, Whoever You are, open it up. I want to come home.
There's Something in me, calling." (Psalm 42:7).
Then I was born again. (John 3:3-8). That little Life was laying there (Eccles.
3:11); the life of water was poured upon It, then It begin to grow. Now, that
old life was forgiven, put in the sea of God's forgetfulness (Micah 7:18-19),
to never be remembered against me no more. See? Now, we stand justified, as
though we never had sinned in the Presence of God (I Cor. 6:9-11; Romans 5:1).
[5]
I believe that
a man, when he's born in this world, that when you're a little baby, born
into the world, you could not have been here without being the foreknowledge
of God, because He is infinite and He knows all things (Eccles. 3:14-15).
And when that little baby is born into the world, there's something in that
baby. If he's ever going to have Life, there's a little something in there,
in that child then, that he comes to sooner or later. (Matt. 13:37-38; Luke
8:11). That little seed is in him. Now, if you'll take... The Scriptures plainly
declare that. Now, if you've got Eternal Life tonight, if we have Eternal
Life, then we always were, because there's only one form of Eternal Life.
We always were (Gal. 4:6). And the reason we were, because we are a part of
God. And God is the only thing that's eternal.
And like Melchisedec received tithes from Abraham (Genesis 14:20), and it
was 'lotted to his great-grandson, Levi, who was yet in the loins of Abraham;
paid tithes, for he was yet in the loins of Abraham when he met Melchisedec
(Hebr. 7:1-10). Now, notice that. Way back, God knew this boy coming down.
He knowed all things.
Now, we are a part of God. You always was. You don't remember it, because
you were only an attribute in God. You were only in His thinking. Your very
name, if it ever was on the Book of Life, it was put there before the found¬ation
of the world (Rev. 13:8). He knew what you were. I'm only saying this, not
to mix up doctrine, but to straighten it out, that we might get away from
this fear and scare: you don't know who you are. You are not going to be,
but now you are the sons of God. See, you always were the sons of God (Job
38:1-7).
For when God had you in His thinking at the beginning, you have to be, some
part of you, your Life that's in you now, had to be with God before there...
Well, before you even become material here on earth, before there was anything,
but God, you were one of His attributes. He knowed what your name would be.
He knowed the color of hair you'd have. He knowed all about you (Psalm 139:1-18).
The only thing happened is when you, being a sinner...
Many of you can fellowship with me on this thought. When you was a little
boy, or a little girl, you'd walk around and there would be certain things
that would just, where it wouldn't bother the other kids, it seemed like there
was something in you that cried out. There was God somewhere, yet you were
a sinner. You remember that? Certainly. Now, what was that? That was that
little form of Life in you then.
And then after while, you heard the Gospel. Maybe you went to church; you
picked out this and that, and went from denomination to denomination. But
one day, you being part of God, you had to be part of the Word. And when you
heard the Word, you know where you come from, you knowed what was the Truth
(John 17:6-10, 14-16). You were always, the seed was in you always. The Word
seen the Word that was in you, that was before the foundation of the world,
saw the Word and you come to It.
And that's the way it is with every born again believer. You can hear all
the theology you want to and all the manmade discrepancy; but when that Word
flashes out there, then there's something takes ahold, you come to It (John
10:27-29). "You who were once dead in sin; that life has He quickened."
(Eph. 2:1-6). There has to be a Life there to quicken to, first. God by His
foreknowledge knowed all things. And we were predestinated to be sons and
daughters of God. "Ye who were once dead in sin and trespasses, wherein
we all had our times past, but hath He quickened."
Look at Paul, when Paul was a great theologian. But when he come face to face
with that Word, Jesus, it quickened (Acts 22:1-11). He come to Life right
quick, because he was ordained to be that. He was part of the Word; and when
the Word saw the Word, it was his nature. All the clucking of the hens in
the orthodox churches, didn't have no effect upon him; he had saw the Word.
It was part of him. He was an eagle. He wasn't a chicken; he was just in the
barnyard with them. But he was a eagle to begin with.
I heard a similar little story, I hope it don't sound sacrilegious, about
a little duck being born under a hen one time. He couldn't understand. A funny-looking
little fellow, odd guy, and he couldn't understand the dust and everything.
They were playing in the barnyard. But one day the old hen led the little
brood out behind the barn, and he got a smell of water. Why, he took out towards
that water as hard as he could go. Why? He had never been on a pond before.
He'd never been in the water. But he was a duck to begin with. Only thing
he had to do was come to himself.
That's the same thing the believer is. There's something in him, that, when
he meets God face to face, he comes to himself. That seed is in him, and it's
quickened. My, that's right, and he flies away from the things of the world.
They become dead to him. My, I remember, we all had our life in the past in
those things of the world. But once we got ahold of that real Thing, something
that quickened us, a little seed that come to Life, then all the things of
the world rotted right there. We had no more desire of it. "He that's
borned of God, doth not commit sin (I John 3:9). The worshipper once purged
has no more conscience of sin, no more desire to sin” (Hebr. 10:1-2).
The sin question's over. You become a part of God in Christ. Christ died to
redeem you. [6]
The Elected of God seen It in Noah's time, Moses' time, Jesus' time, the apostles' time, Luther's time, Wesley's time, Pentecostal time, because that was the Seed that was on the earth when this inspiration was poured out. Now, while the inspiration's poured out to gather the Bride together, it's only those who are Elected will see It (Eph. 1:15-23. Jesus said, "I thank Thee, Father, that Thou hast hid these things from the eyes of the wise and prudent, and revealed It to babes such as would learn” (Matt. 11:25-30). Now, inspiration has to strike it. [7]
Now, see, before
anything can be quickened, there has to be something there to be quickened
by. That's right. So you see, if you were in the foreknowledge of God, then
you are becoming a part of God. And the only way you can be a son of God or
a daughter of God, you had to be a part of God, and God isn't complete without
you. Has to be. That's right, 'cause there is One, only one resource of Eternal
Life, and that is God, and Him alone has Eternal Life. See? Now, and you were
a part of Him, insomuch that you're an attribute, or in His thinking in the
beginning. And that, because He thought of you in the beginning, it gives
that little tug towards Him (John 6:44). That's what has to be quickened.
Some of them will never be quickened; they just don't have it; that's all.
Just like if you would put a grain of corn in the ground, didn't have... Ever
how pretty it was, if it didn't have the germ of life in it, it can never
be quickened. But the germ of life has to be there first. [8]
It's in your own heart. See? If you feel something tugging--tingling at your heart, that's what it is. It's that attribute trying to declare itself. [9]
Out there in Tucson is listening in this morning; I once wondered... I've always constraining people, "Go to church, no matter where you go." And I seen the people kind of pulling back, and going this way. And I thought, "What's the matter?" I went to some of them. "The first day you're there, they'll approach you: 'Join our church.' If you don't do it, you're not welcome." See, see? It's a forced thing; it's forced upon you, and that's Babylon. But in Christ, you come in by election, not by force; your heart pulls you in. [10]
